If this had been a product offered from the earliest days of gaming, I suspect the hobby would have caught on faster and more steadfastly.

We all probably have hazy memories of most of our early gaming sessions, sometime uncertain of even the other character's name in those adventures (and sometimes even the players name). Short of maybe popular published products, there are few memories of distinguishing characteristics of those early campaign worlds. The memories whorled away like a casual party.

If those games had included a notebook that organized the campaign experience into a common thread, the names would have taken on substance, the characters would be more than placeholders with numbers scratched in dust. The adventures themselves would be recorded along with the number of gold pieces; creating lasting memories like those of a movie or book.

I believe that notebooks like this make for more engaged and captivated players, and that sort of experience generates more open draw for a hobby than people furtively avoiding talking about their hobby the way one would not advertise how drunk you were at that last party you don't really remember.
